Shaped by the Gulf. Translated through texture.
Emerald Coast textured abstraction by Marisol Sturt
Emerald Coast, Florida
Connection to the Emerald Coast
I was formed by this coastline long before it became destination.
The Gulf was never background — it was rhythm. Translucent shallows in summer, offshore depth beyond the sandbars, the quiet return of light each morning.
I do not paint the beach as scenery.
I paint what it feels like to belong to it.
“Not nostalgia.
Not performance.
Presence.”

“My work explores what it means to move forward with steadiness, even when the surface feels unsettled.
It is not about the ocean.
It is about trust.”
Studio Letters
Small original works and handwritten reflections from the Emerald Coast.
Studio Letters
Small works occasionally leave the studio.
Each Studio Letter includes a simple abstract study on paper connected to a larger painting, accompanied by a handwritten note reflecting on something the Emerald Coast has taught, about movement, steadiness, and the quiet lessons carried by water.
Each study is part of a limited series of twenty-five pieces tied to a single larger work.
Over time, these letters form a quiet archive of the Gulf's influence on life and practice.
Available individually or through monthly subscription.
Collectors receive a new Studio Letter each month.
Each includes an original abstract study on paper and a handwritten reflection connected to the Gulf and its quiet lessons.
